A dynamic template has a number of placeholders where information is automatically inserted when the template is downloaded by the end-user.
These placeholders are not made by Templafy, but is based on existing Microsoft features within MS Office.
Information that could be inserted in a placeholder could be user name and profile information, office address, logos, legal disclaimers etc.
These placeholders needs to be setup to work with the Templafy solution. Below is an introduction to how Templafy use shapes as placeholders.
How shapes inserts text in Templafy:
Shapes are categorized with four different pre-fixes, determining where they come from
- FLD - eg. "FLD_Date" / "FLD_Reference"
- USR - eg. "USR_Name" / "USR_Title
- OFF - eg. "OFF_Name" / "OFF_Phone"
- LAN - eg. "LAN_Term" / "LAN_Signoff"
All "FLD_X" shapes will insert text from document fields that are visible when dowloading the document.
In the example below, "Reference" will be inserted into the shape "FLD_Reference" in the Power Point document.
All "USR_X" shapes will insert text created in ones User Profile.
"Name and surname" will be inserted into the shape "USR_Name".
"Title" wil be inserted into the shape "USR_Title".
"Mobile" into "USR_Mobile", etc.
All "OFF_X" shapes will insert text from ones "Company Data Source: Offices". This could be the name of the company, phone, address, CVR etc.
Depending on choices made in the User Profile (Department, Office), different info will be inserted into these shapes.
If, in your User Profile, chose Production in Department and then Production Kansas in Office. Text will be inserted from ID Line 8. The columns name represent the shape value, so "name" with ID 8 will be inserted into the shape "OFF_Name".
"address" in ID line 8 will be inserted into "OFF_Address" etc.
All "LAN_X" shapes will insert translated text from a linked 'Translations' data source. The 'Term' will be inserted according to language choice in profile, e.g. the term 'ActionBy', will be inserted as 'Action by' with English chosen.

Inserting and naming the shape
A shape can be inserted in two different ways:
- Slide Master View: Inserted information will not be editable for the end users. Recommended shapes: OFF_xxx, LAN_xxx & USR_xxx.
- Normal View: Inserted information will be editable for the end users. Recomended shapes: FLD_xxx.
Slide Master View
In order to access Slide Master View, go to View tab and click on the Slide Master tab.
Open Selection Pane- it will make it easier to select objects and change their names.
After that, select the slide you would like to have a shape on. Insert the shape and rename it in the Selection Pane.
Note: These shapes have no fill and no outline for styling purposes.
The flow is very similar as before: select a desired slide, insert a shape and raname it in the selection pane.
