The TemplafyUpdater is a tool for efficient and easy distribution of files in Microsoft Office. In Templafy, we use this tool to deploy Microsoft Add-in files directly to end-users in a client organizations. When installed, new add-ins can be distributed without the involvement of internal IT departments.
How does it work?
The TemplafyUpdater is connected to a repository within the Microsoft Azure cloud. When the TemplafyUpdater is installed, it automatically checks if new add-in files are available, then downloads and distributes these.
How is it delivered?
The TemplafyUpdater is delivered as an msi package and a bat file. The msi must be installed with the parameters from the bat file.
How is it installed?
The TemplafyUpdater can be installed manually by running a .bat file. The first time you run the Updater, this will connect to the repository and download the add-in files from the repository. This takes approximately 30-60 seconds. Wait until the Updater is 'idle', and then open MS Office to see the add-ins installed.
It can also be installed using GPO or SCCM. In this case, just apply the same parameters included in the bat file to the installation.
