How to edit the design of the TextBox

By default, the main body placeholder of the Slide Master will be utilized in when utilizing "Insert Textbox" or "Apply default text box format". If no main body placeholder can be found the default PowerPoint text box will be utilized.

To customize the design of the TextBox, you need to create and customize a TextBox in the Slide Master.

  1. Open the template/presentation where the change of design is required 
  2. Open the Master view
  3. Go in the Slide Master (very first slide in the slide master view)
  4. Create a shape and customize its layout, font, position, size, alignment…
  5. Open the Selection Pane
  6. Rename the shape to TextBox
  7. Hide the shape by clicking on the eye icon in the selection pane
  8. Close the Master view
 
  • The default text box is searched in the following order:

    • A hidden shape in the Slide Master named TextBox.
    • The body placeholder in the Slide Master.
    • If nothing is found, the PowerPoint default will be inserted.
