What features are supported by the Frontify Content Connector?

This article explains the features that are supported by the Frontify Content Connector.

  Prerequisites

  • Admin/owner access to the Templafy tenant.
  • Library and Content Connector modules enabled.
  • Frontify Connector configured.
  • Frontify Enterprise Plan.
  • Frontify service account & API key for authenticating the integration if using Service Account Authorization in Templafy (organization content / same content for all users).
  • An OAuth2 Client must be created in Frontify if using OAuth 2 Authorization Code with PKCE in Templafy (user specific content).
    • The redirect URL should be set to https://public.templafy.com/integrations/oauth/login-callback

About the Frontify Content Connector

The Frontify Content Connector allows certain assets from Frontify to be accessible by users in the Templafy library pane.

What is supported with the Frontify Content Connector?

  • Library Types: Media, Logo, and Icon.
  • General Global keyword search for assets.
  • Ability to pull custom and AI tags from Frontify.
  • Asset metadata pulled from Frontify: Name, Tags, and Type.
  • Collections.
  • Authentication:
    • OAuth 2 Authorization Code Flow - Allows for user specific content.
    • Service Account Authorization - Allows for global access to organization's content without user login.

  Note

  • The connector will receive and insert the full, uncompressed file from Frontify, so keep this in mind with large files.
  • Collection Names with slashes ( / ) are not supported.

What is not supported with the Frontify Content Connector?

  • Folders - organization of assets is based on Collections rather than Folders.
  • Multiple Libraries per connector - one connector per asset type is needed.
  • Multiple brands - only the first brand returned will be used.
  • Multiple libraries of the same asset type - only the first library of the selected asset type will be used.
  • Asset Libraries other than Media, Logo, and Icon.
  • Search by specific metadata or property.
  • Search within only a specific collection.

  Important

  • Frontify currently does not provide an API to search within a specific collection. This means that searches will always return all matching assets, no matter which collection they are a part of.
  • Even if users navigate to a collection and perform a search and then see breadcrumbs saying "Results for <search term> in <Current Collection>", the search results will still include all results available from the Frontify Connector.
