Release plans - general information

This article presents a high-level overview of Templafy release plans.

  Note

  • The release plans described in this article are primarily for the VSTO add-ins distributed by Templafy Desktop.
  • Releases for Templafy Desktop Client doesn't follow the described timeline in this article but is included with the automatic release plans.

What are the automatic release plans?

The automatic release plans consist of Stable and Insider and will be explained further below.

Stable (default) Insider
Available to subscribers Available to subscribers
Monthly (at fastest) Bi-weekly (at fastest)

Stable

Releases on Stable plan become available automatically to customers subscribing to the Stable release plan. While not necessarily including the newest software updates, the Stable release plan is considered the most reliable version. 

  Note

By default, customers will subscribe to the Stable release plan.

Insider

Releases on Insider this plan become available automatically to customers subscribing to the Insider release plan. When you subscribe to Insider, you get access to the newest software and latest features. 

  Note

You have to actively give consent when you subscribe to this automatic release plan.

Custom

Choosing a specific version (custom plan) is a manual process and maintenance heavy. This option is available upon request, and full responsibility lies with the customer. You comply to regular add-in upgrades at least every 3 months. 

  Note

Manual software upgrades will be handled by Templafy upon request.

Templafy Desktop Client

While a new version of Templafy Desktop Client is not released as frequently as the VSTO add-ins, Templafy Desktop Client is released to both the Stable and Insider release plan. If you subscribe to the Stable release plan, you will automatic get upgraded to the Stable version of Templafy Desktop Client. If subscribing to Insider release plan, you will get upgraded to the Insider version of Templafy Desktop Client.
