About related entities
In the case of many external data sources, the connected data set likely has several 'related entities'. Related entities are generally other tables or objects that are referenced in the connected data source. This means that in addition to getting the data directly on your selected entity, Templafy will also get the data from those related entities as well.
For example, an Opportunity record from a CRM may reference other objects such as Primary Contact, Account, or Line Items. By default, Templafy will query the Opportunity record and all of the associated related record data.
While including related entities in your external data source may be useful, it’s likely that not all of them are needed. In this case, Templafy allows you to choose only the relevant entities to include in your external data source transformation.
How to choose related entities
- In the Admin Center navigate to the Resources section and click on the External Data Sources tab.
- Select the external data source to choose related entities.
- Click on the ellipsis button and select Choose entities for transformation:
- Select the related entities that need to be included in your data source and click Save:
NoteIf no related entities are selected, and the empty selection is saved, this will include no related entities on your data source. |
ImportantChosen related entities are applicable for use in transformation of external data sources only. If a transformation is not applied, all related entity data, regardless of these selections, will be available to query. |
