This article explains how to insert AI text into a PowerPoint presentation. AI smart fields introduces Generative AI (plain and formatted text) as source for placeholders.

Included functionalities
The following functionalities are included:
- The AI text smart field generates text content based upon a prompt template and connected model and knowledge.
- Formatting of text generated by the AI prompt template using markdown.
- For each of the AI generated placeholders an Office Comment is added in PowerPoint with a citation that the content was generated with help of AI.

AI Text examples
Example 1
In this example the 'Rephrase' prompt template is used. In PowerPoint the user types a text and the output is a rephrased text. In the Admin Center the 'Rephrase' prompt template contains the instructions below:

- In PowerPoint create a new template.
- On the Form tab, click + Add question.
- In the Type field select Text. In the Question title field type 'Title'.
- Click Add to form.
- In the Type field select Text. In the Question title field type 'Product info'.
- Set the Textbox height to '5'.
- Click Add to form.
- On the Template tab, expand Form responses and click 'Title'.
- In the template select the 'Click to add title' placeholder, then click Add to template:
- In the template select the 'Click to add subtitle' placeholder.
- On the Template tab click + Add smart field, then click AI Text:
- Fill in the following values:
- Display name: 'Product information'.
- Prompt template: Select 'Rephrase' in the dropdown.

- Click Add to template. The result looks like this:
Tip
To add more placeholders, open the Slide Master view and select a layout. Then on the Slide Master tab, click Insert Placeholder and select a Content or Text placeholder (for using AI Text):
- Save the template and upload it to the Admin Center.
- Open the template as an end-user and enter a title and product information:
- When Open in PowerPoint is clicked, Templafy AI will rephrase the text. The result looks like this:
Important
- Keep in mind that the next time you create a new presentation the result can be different text!
- Next to the thumbnail a comment icon (marked red) is shown. When selected, the Comments task pane is opened. This is to inform the end-user that the content on this slide was generated by Templafy AI (marked green):
Example 2
In this example the 'Virtual Cook' prompt template is used. This is a custom created prompt template that contains the instructions below:
- In PowerPoint create a new template.
- On the View tab, click Slide Master.
- Right-click the Two Content Layout and click Duplicate Layout:
- Right-click the new (duplicate) layout and click Rename Layout. Rename '1_Two Content' to 'One Content'.
- Delete the left 'Click to edit Master text styles' placeholder.
- In the right 'Click to edit Master text styles' placeholder, set the font size of the first level to '20' (optional: change the font sizes of the other levels accordingly). The result looks like this:
- Click Close Master View.
- On the Home tab, click New Slide and insert One Content as new slide:
- Delete the first slide. The result looks like this:
- In the 'Click to add title' placeholder type 'Recipe'. The result looks like this:
- Optional: add a background image, so the result looks like this:
- On the Form tab, click + Add question.
- In the Type field select Text. In the Question title field type 'Ingredients'.
- Set the Textbox height to '3'.
- Click Add to form.
- In the template select the 'Click to add text' placeholder.
- On the Template tab click + Add smart field, then click AI Text.
- Fill in the following values:
- Display name: 'Recipe'.
- Prompt template: Select 'Virtual Cook' in the dropdown.

Write a recipe with these ingredients: {{Form.Ingredients}}. The maximum length of the text must be 30 words and include the word "chef".

- Click Add to template. The result looks like this:
- Save the template and upload it to the Admin Center.
- Open the template as an end-user and enter ingredients in the Recipe field, for example 'salt, flour, eggs, milk':
- When Open in PowerPoint is clicked, Templafy AI will create a recipe. The result looks like this:
Important
If in step 14 the option Render as Markdown would have been disabled, then the result would look like this:
So instead of the markdown being rendered, the result shows the markdown instructions like the asterisks (**) and dashes instead of bullets. So in general, to make sure your presentation looks nice, enable Render as Markdown.
