Validator Functionality

This article explains what Validator is and how to enable it.

  Prerequisites

Overview

With Validator, Admins gain control over specific slide content with changes pushed to presentations locally saved by end-users. This helps to ensure information stays accurate and up to date.

How to use Validator

  1. In the Admin Center, navigate to the Libraries section and click on Presentations or Slides.
  2. Select an asset and click on the Slides tab.
  3. Click Enable Validator to be able to push new versions of the asset to users' presentation.
  4. Optionally click Lock slide to prevent end-users from making edits to the asset.
  5. Click Save.

  Important

When opening a locally saved presentation enabled for validator that has been updated by an Admin:

  • If the end-user clicks Dismiss, no updates will occur.
  • If the end-user clicks Update:
    • For unlocked slides, user edits are preserved and the new version slide is inserted below the existing.
    • For locked slides, the new version slide replaces the existing.

  Note

  • Validator functionality is not retroactive. From an end user perspective, slides will only be updated if the slide has already been enabled for Validator in the Admin Center.
  • Validator only recognizes edits made to the slide content and does not apply to edits made in the slide master.
  • Validator can only be enabled for static content or dynamic insertion of slides, not for slides using dynamic content.
