How to add structure and guidance to the response form
When building the response form, the Header and Description can be used to guide the user better throughout the form and can be created by following these steps:
- In Template Designer, open the Form tab.
- Click + Add question.
- In the Type field select Header or Description:
- Header: used to create sections with related questions.
- Description: used together with headers to provide additional guidance.
- Type a value in the Text field.
- Optionally, set additional settings:
- Reference name: Will be prepopulated based on the question title. The reference name will be displayed when using the form responses and is also the name used in the binding syntax.
- Spacing before: Edit the space between the question and the elements above it in the response form (None, Medium, or Large).
- Spacing after: Edit the space between the question and the elements below it in the response form (None, Medium, or Large).
- Click Add to form.
Tip
Once the header or description has been created you can click Preview form to see how it will appear to the end-user.
Example
A template contains the questions below. The right image shows how they appear to the end-user:
To group the questions, headers named 'Employment contract' and 'Contact details' are added, and the description 'Phone and email of the employee'. The result now looks like this:
NoteA new question/header/description is always added after the last question, but you can easily change the position by moving the field using the grab handle (marked red in the image above). |
