What is a text element placeholder and slide placeholder in the response form?

This article explains what text element placeholder and slide placeholder stand for in the response form of a smart template

  Prerequisites

  • Library and at least one Dynamics modules enabled.
  • Templafy Desktop and Office VSTO add-in installed on the PC.
  • Space owner access to the Templafy tenant.

The placeholders that might appear in the response form are directly linked to the Text element smart field for documents and Slide smart field for presentations. As one can dynamically insert dynamic text elements into documents, or dynamic slides into presentations, the Text element placeholder or Slide placeholder will dictate where the questions from the text element or slide appear for the end-user. These placeholders can be reordered to ensure that the questions from the dynamically inserted assets are displayed at the right position in the response form.

  Note

  • A new placeholder will be automatically created when a Text element smart field for documents or Slides(s) smart field presentations is inserted.
  • A new placeholder will be named 'Placeholder 1', 'Placeholder 2' etc., but can be renamed on the Form tab in the Question title field. For example rename 'Placeholder 1' to 'Disclaimer' if that is the content of the text element or slide.
  • In this article Example 3 shows where the questions of a text element are shown on the response form when a placeholder is placed at a specific position.
