How to disable AI shortcut menu

This article explains how to disable and enable the AI assistant shortcut menu for users. The AI assistant shortcut is available in PowerPoint and Word, and can be enabled or disabled for each of these applications.

  Prerequisites

  • Library and Universal AI Assistant or Custom AI Assistant modules enabled.
  • Admin/owner access to the Templafy tenant.
  • VSTO Library add-in version 7.3.140 or higher.

How to disable the AI shortcut menu in the admin center

By default, the AI shortcut menu is enabled in both PowerPoint and Word. 

  1. In the admin center, navigate to the AI Assistant section.
  2. On the top right corner of the screen, click on the More options menu.
  3. Click on Settings.
  4. Under the Shortcut menu section, uncheck the box next to PowerPoint or Word to disable the shortcut menu for all users in the corresponding application.


  5. Click the Save button.

  Important

  • VSTO add-ins are required for the AI Assistant shortcut menu. The shortcut menu is not available for web add-ins/ on Macs. 
  • If users are working on multiple monitors with different sizes / resolutions, to ensure proper placement of the shortcut menu button, use the Office display setting "Optimize for compatibility". You can set this in your Office application by going to Options > General > User Interface Options. 

  Tip

This process describes how to enable or disable the shortcut menu for all users. End users may also choose to disable this option themselves if they would like. To allow users to make this choice, keep the shortcut menu setting enabled in the Admin Center.
