How to enable Microsoft Graph Data Connector

This article explains how to set up a connection from Templafy to your Microsoft Azure tenant via the Microsoft Graph API.

The Microsoft Graph Data Connector enables a user to dynamically populate documents with up-to-date information from your Microsoft Entra ID, such as a user's name, job title, mobile phone, and office address.

How to set up Microsoft Graph as a Data Connector in Templafy

1. In the Admin Center, access the Integrations section.
2. Open the Available tab.
3. Find/Search for Microsoft Graph.
4. Click +.
5. Enter the required information:
   • Display Name.
   • Azure Active Directory tenant ID.
     
6. Click Save:
   
7. Navigate to the Installed tab.
8. Locate Microsoft Graph and click on Connect:
   
   
   

   Important If the connector is not used for 24 hours, the connector authentication token may expire. If you notice that your documents using Microsoft Graph data are suddenly no longer working, click on Log out and Connect again to refresh the token.

9. Finish the authentication steps in the pop-up window, where you will be asked to give permission and click Accept.
   

   Important You must have admin permission in Microsoft Entra ID to grant delegated permissions to access data with the Templafy Graph Data Connector.

   
   

   Note Once the data connector has been set up, you can navigate to Resources to add the relevant external data sources.

How to add an External Data Source from Microsoft Graph

1. In the admin center, navigate to the Resources section.
2. Go to the External Data Sources tab.
3. Click on Add External Data Source.
4. Choose your Microsoft Graph connector under the Connector menu.
5. Choose the data object from Microsoft Graph you'd like to connect to (for example, users).
6. The first time setting up a connection to the selected object, you'll need to grant consent to access that data with the Templafy Graph Data Connector.
7. Select the relevant permission, and click Grant Consent.
   
8. Click Accept in the permission request popup window.
   
   
   

   Important You must have admin permission in Microsoft Entra ID to grant delegated permissions to access requested data objects with the Templafy Graph Data Connector.

9.  Once the required permissions are granted, click on Add External Data Source.
   
   
   

   Important The following Microsoft Entra ID user fields are not yet supported: imAddresses. proxyAddresses.
