How to add color themes to resources

Admins can upload color themes XML files in the system generated ColorThemes data source in the Admin Center and reference to them in other data sources and use the color themes in Dynamics via the Dynamics Designer in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.

  Prerequisites

  • Admin/owner access to the Templafy tenant.
  • Library and Dynamics Templates modules enabled.

What are color theme files?

Color theme files are XML files that contain two sets of dark and light colors, six accents, and colors for visited and unvisited hyperlinks. Word, PowerPoint, and Excel all use these color themes for documents. Templafy can set these color themes using Dynamic templates.

For more on color themes visit this support article from Microsoft: Change a theme and make it the default in Word or Excel.

Once you have created a color theme in the respective Office program the theme can be retrieved in the following directory:

C:\Users\JaneDoe\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates\Document Themes\Theme Colors

You'll notice they carry the same name you have given them within Office but with the .XML extension.

How to upload color themes XML files to a data source

  1. Navigate to the Resources section in the Admin Center.
  2. Navigate to Data Sources tab.
  3. Click on the system generated data source named 'ColorThemes':
  4. Click on Open data source.

  6. Type a name for your file.
