How to access Template Designer

This article explains how to access Template Designer from the ribbon, and, if custom tab settings are enabled on the tenant, from the ellipsis menu in the Library pane.

  Prerequisites

  • Library and at least one Dynamics modules enabled.
  • Templafy Desktop and Office VSTO add-in installed on the PC.
  • Admin/owner access to the Templafy tenant and Space owner access.

How to access the Template Designer from the Library pane

  1. Go to your Office desktop application, in this example Word.
  2. Click on the Home tab in the ribbon.
  3. Click on the Content Library to open the Library pane.
  4. Click on the ellipsis menu, then Template Designer as shown below:

  Important

The Template Designer button, accessible from the ellipsis menu in the Library pane, will be displayed when Library module is enabled.

How to access the Template Designer from the ribbon

If 'Create custom tab for Templafy add-ins' has been enabled on your tenant, the Template Designer button will displayed directly in the ribbon. 

  1. Go to your Office desktop application, in this example Word.
  2. Navigate to the custom tab, in the below example named Templafy.
  3. Click on the button Template Designer.

  Important

  • The Template Designer button in the custom tab in the ribbon will be displayed only if at least one Dynamics module is enabled on the tenant.
  • Only for Word/PowerPoint/Excel desktop application.
  • The Template Designer will only be displayed in the Custom tab, which means that the Create Custom tab for Templafy add-ins setting must be enabled. Otherwise, it can be accessed through the Library pane as stated above.
  • The Template Designer will only show in the ribbon for Tenant owners and Tenant admins, no end-users will see the button.
  • The Template Designer will show through the Library pane regardless.
