This article explains how chat history and related AI activity logs work for Document Agents, and how administrators can configure retention for their organization.
Chat history helps users return to previous conversations, revisit presentation plans, and continue working where they left off. Related AI activity logs help support troubleshooting, provide admins with contextual insights into how Document Agents are being used, and support auditability and security review.
As an administrator, you can choose how long chats and related AI logs are stored based on your organization’s data governance, compliance, and support needs.
Users can only access their own conversations. Depending on the retention option selected, users may also be able to permanently delete chats before the selected retention period ends.

Available retention options
Administrators can choose one of the following retention policies:
Don’t save chats or AI logs
Chats and related AI logs are not stored after a session ends.
What this means:
- Chat history is unavailable meaning users cannot return to previous chats or continue working from earlier conversations.
- Admins will not have contextual insights into the types of presentations, slides, prompts, or use cases users are trying to create.
- Templafy’s ability to troubleshoot Document Agent issues will be limited because there will be no saved chat or AI activity context to inspect.
- There will be no AI activity audit trail available for security review, including inspection of suspicious activity or potential prompt injection attempts.
Delete inactive chats and AI logs after 90 days
Conversations and related AI logs are stored to allow users to continue previous work and are automatically deleted after 90 days of inactivity, or when a user deletes the chat.
What this means:
- Users can return to recent chats and continue working where they left off.
- Chats and related AI logs remain available while they are actively used and automatically deleted after 90 days of inactivity.
- Admins can access recent contextual insights into how Document Agents are being used, such as the types of presentations or slides users are trying to create.
- Audit and security review is possible for retained activity, but historical visibility is limited once chats and AI logs are deleted.
- Templafy can use recent chat and AI activity context to help troubleshoot Document Agent issues.
Save chats and AI logs
Conversations and related AI logs are stored while your organization uses Templafy, unless deleted earlier by a user or when your organization’s contract ends.
What this means:
- Users can return to recent chats and continue working where they left off.
- Chats and related AI logs remain available while your organization uses Templafy. There is no automatic deletion based on inactivity.
- Users remain in control and can permanently delete conversations whenever they choose.
- Admins have more complete contextual insights into how users are using Document Agents, including what types of presentations, slides, and use cases they are trying to create.
- Retained AI activity logs support auditability and security review, including traceability and inspection of suspicious activity or potential prompt injection attempts.
- Templafy can use retained chat and AI activity context to help troubleshoot Document Agent issues more effectively.
How to manage chat history
After the initial set up, owners/admins can adjust the tone of voice anytime:
