About this article
This article will explain common error messages that are displayed in the Admin Center when an admin tries to upload a document.
- Uploading a document generated from a dynamic Templafy template
- Uploading a document with too many content-elements
Prerequisites
Uploading a document generated from a dynamic Templafy template
If you attempt to upload a document to the Library that is created by an end-user from a Templafy template with Dynamics then the upload will fail, and the error message is shown:
Processing document failed. The document can not be uploaded as template,
it is a document generated from a dynamic Templafy template.
The error message is shown because the created (dynamic) document is now a personalized document which is essentially the reason why it cannot be (re)used as a template.

How to make changes to the original template?
Changes made to the document need to be redone on a non-generated version of the template.
- In the Admin Center select the History tab and click
Download previous version
.
- In the Office application make the required changes to the template.
- Save and close the template.
- Replace the template in the Admin Center.
- It's highly recommended to use the
Replace
function. This way the template will keep the same asset ID, which is important if the template is used for automated document creation (for example with Document Creation Services 1.1). - If you want to create a new template instead of replacing an existing template, then in step 3 save the template with a new name and select
Upload
in the Admin Center.
- It's highly recommended to use the
Template Designer
When you open the generated document and then attempt to open Template Designer, an error message will be shown:
When you click download the original template file from the Admin Center
in the message above, the Admin Center is opened with the original template selected. In this case, as well, select the History tab, click Download previous version
and follow the steps above to replace the template.

Uploading a document with too many content-elements
If an admin is trying to upload a template in the Admin Center that exceeds the number of content-elements we support, the below error message will be displayed:
The template has a very big number
of content-elements and is not supported
Limitation
A template with a large amount of XML may cause performance issues, which is why we have set a limit and cannot support templates that exceed this limit.

This most often happens in PowerPoint presentations containing many shapes that can be edited by the end-user (world maps, for example). In this case, we recommend:
- The shapes do not need to be edited by the end-user: replace the content-elements (shapes) with a picture. You can do so by copying the group of shapes and pasting it as a picture.
- The shapes do require to be edited by the end-user: split the presentation into several smaller presentations so it fits into the maximum allowed number of content-elements.
