Generate a slide based on an image with Edit Agent

Edit Agent can use an uploaded image as visual context when creating a new slide in PowerPoint. For example, you can upload a hand-drawn sketch, screenshot, or rough slide structure and ask Edit Agent to create a polished slide based on it.

  Prerequisites

  • Edit Agent must be enabled for your organization and user account.
  • You must be working in PowerPoint.
  • To generate a new slide, you must have access to approved presentation layouts.
  • The uploaded image must be a supported image file.

Use case

Use this when you know the structure you want, but do not want to build the slide manually. This is useful for turning a rough sketch, workshop photo, whiteboard drawing, or example slide structure into a clean business slide.

Why this helps

Image-based slide generation helps users move faster from idea to presentation. It reduces manual layout work and helps teams turn early thinking into branded, reusable slides without waiting for design support.

Supported image files

Supported image file types include:

  • .png.
  • .jpg.
  • .jpeg.
  • .gif.
  • .webp.

Image files can be up to 10 MB.

How to generate a slide from an image

  1. Open the presentation in PowerPoint.
  2. Open Edit Agent in the Templafy task pane.
  3. Upload the image you want Edit Agent to use as a reference.
  4. Ask Edit Agent to create a slide based on the image.
    For example:
    • "Use the uploaded sketch as the structure for a new timeline slide about our implementation plan."
    • "Create a polished slide based on this hand-drawn layout. Use the content from the project brief."
    • "Use this screenshot as inspiration for the structure, but make the slide fit our brand."
    • "Turn this whiteboard drawing into a clean slide about the launch plan."
  5. Add any missing context.
If the image only shows structure, add the topic, audience, and content you want the slide to cover.
  6. Wait while Edit Agent creates and inserts the slide.
  7. Review the new slide in PowerPoint.
  8. Ask Edit Agent for follow-up changes if needed.

Tips

  • Upload a clear image where the structure is easy to understand.
  • Tell Edit Agent which parts of the image matter most, such as title, number of sections, order, or visual hierarchy.
  • Upload a source document as well if the slide needs accurate business content.
  • Review all AI-generated content before using the slide externally.

  Important

Uploaded images are used as visual context. Edit Agent does not turn the image itself into editable slide objects. Use approved Library content when you want governed visuals inserted into a presentation.
