Start a new presentation with Edit Agent

Edit Agent can help you start a new presentation from PowerPoint. This is useful when you realize that you need a new presentation rather than more slides in the presentation you currently have open.

  Prerequisites

  • Edit Agent must be enabled for your organization and user account.
  • You must be working in PowerPoint.
  • You must have access to approved presentation layouts.
  • If the new presentation should use uploaded files, upload them before asking Edit Agent to start the new presentation.

Use case

Use this when you want to create a new presentation from scratch, such as a pitch deck, proposal, project update, training deck, or customer meeting presentation.

Why this helps

Starting a new presentation from Edit Agent helps users turn an idea, brief, or existing presentation context into a new deck faster. It reduces the friction between editing current work and starting a new piece of presentation content.

How to start a new presentation

  1. Open PowerPoint.
  2. Open Edit Agent in the Templafy task pane.
  3. Ask Edit Agent to create a new presentation.
    For example:
    • "Create a new presentation about our partner enablement plan."
    • "Start a new pitch deck for a financial services prospect."
    • "Create a new training presentation based on the uploaded onboarding guide."
    • "I need a new customer meeting deck about the implementation roadmap."
  4. Confirm that you want a new presentation.
Edit Agent may ask whether you want to start a new presentation or add slides to the presentation you currently have open.
  5. Tell Edit Agent whether uploaded files or the open presentation should be used as source material.
  6. Continue in the new window when it opens.

What source material means

Source material is the information Edit Agent should use when preparing the new presentation.

Uploaded files can be used as source material when the new presentation should be based on specific documents, such as a brief, proposal, report, spreadsheet, or existing presentation file. Edit Agent can use the uploaded files as context in the new presentation workflow.

The presentation you currently have open can also be used as source material. This means Edit Agent can use the content in the open presentation as context for the new presentation, for example when you want a new deck based on an existing customer presentation, proposal, or internal update.

Using the open presentation as source material does not change that presentation. The new presentation opens separately, and you continue creating it there.

Tips

  • Ask for a new presentation when you want a separate deck.
  • Ask to add slides when you want to keep working in the presentation you already have open.
  • Upload source files first if the new presentation should be based on specific information.
  • Say whether the open presentation should be used as reference material if the new presentation should build on it.
  • Review AI-generated content before using it externally.
