Create a new slide from existing slide content with Edit Agent

Edit Agent can use content from an existing slide in your presentation as source material for a new slide. This is useful when the slide already has the right message, but you want the content applied to an approved layout that looks more polished and on brand.

  Prerequisites

  • Edit Agent must be enabled for your organization and user account.
  • You must be working in PowerPoint.
  • The presentation must contain the slide you want Edit Agent to use as source material.
  • You must have access to approved presentation layouts.

Use case

Use this when an existing slide has useful content but needs a stronger visual structure. For example, the slide may be too text-heavy, use an outdated layout, come from another presentation, or need to be turned into a more customer-ready version.

Why this helps

This workflow helps users preserve useful content while improving the quality of the slide. It reduces manual redesign work, helps teams move rough slides into approved layouts faster, and makes customer-facing presentations look more consistent.

How to create a new slide from existing slide content

  1. Open the presentation in PowerPoint.
  2. Go to the slide that contains the content you want to reuse.
  3. Open Edit Agent in the Templafy task pane.
  4. Ask Edit Agent to create a new slide using the content from the existing slide.
    For example:
    • "Create a new slide using the content on this slide, but make it look more polished and on brand."
    • "Take the content from slide 5 and turn it into a cleaner customer-ready slide."
    • "Use the message on this rough slide to create a new executive summary slide."
    • "Create a new slide from this slide using an approved layout. Keep the key points."
    • "Turn this dense text slide into a better visual slide, but keep the same meaning."
  5. Tell Edit Agent what must be preserved.
For example, tell Edit Agent whether it should keep the wording exactly, keep only the key points, preserve numbers, or avoid changing product names and claims.
  6. Wait while Edit Agent creates and inserts the new slide.
  7. Review the new slide in PowerPoint.
  8. Compare it with the original slide and ask for follow-up changes if needed.

Tips

  • Refer to the source slide clearly, such as "this slide" or "slide 5".
  • Say whether the wording must stay exact or can be shortened to fit the new layout.
  • Mention the target audience, such as executive, customer, partner, or internal team.
  • Review any numbers, claims, names, and dates before using the slide externally.
  • Use the cleanup workflow instead if you want to improve the existing slide in place.

  Important

Edit Agent creates a new slide in the presentation. The original slide is not removed unless you remove it yourself or ask Edit Agent to change it.
