How to configure the Templafy app in Microsoft Teams

This article will explain how to configure the Templafy app in Microsoft Teams. In order to be able to utilize Templafy integration in Microsoft, it is necessary for the end-user to configure the app. This article will cover: 

• Add Templafy to your Microsoft Teams Apps
• How to add Templafy as a tab in a channel or a chat
• How to edit or remove the Templafy app

Prerequisites

In order to configure the Templafy app in Teams, you need to know the URL of your Templafy tenant. If you don't have this information, please contact your local IT. You can find additional information on how to add an app to Microsoft Teams in the Official Microsoft guide.

 

Add Templafy to your Microsoft Teams Apps

As a first step, the end-user must add Templafy to their Microsoft apps so the Templafy application can then be utilized inside Teams channels and chat. This can be done by doing the following steps: 

1. At the bottom left of Microsoft Teams, click Apps
2. Search for Templafy

3. Click "Add" on the Templafy app

   
   
   
   

Once Templafy has been added to your Apps, you will be able to set it up and utilize it from Teams and Chats. 

A Microsoft 365 administrator from your organization must grant consent to the requested permissions from Templafy before this app can be used.

 

How to add Templafy as a tab in a channel or a chat

Option 1: Through Apps

1. At the bottom left of Microsoft Teams, click Apps
2. Search for Templafy
3. Click on Templafy
4. Click on the arrow next to Open
5. Select the relevant option
   1. Add to a team
   2. Add to a chat
6. Based on your previous selection, enter the desired chat or team
7. Enter the Templafy Tenant ID
   The Templafy Tenant ID  can be found inside the tenant URL and corresponds to the part displayed before .templafy.com. For example, in mytenantid.templafy.com, the Templafy Tenant ID is mytenantid
   
8. Select the Default Path
   The Default Path is the template library that should be displayed when using the tab. It can be Documents, Presentations, or Spreadsheets library
9. ClickSave
   
   

 

These steps can be repeated as many times as needed to create the desired tabs in the different Teams channels or chat.  The Templafy tab that you add to a channel or chat will be available for use by all members of that channel or chat.

 

Option 2: From within a Teams channel or a chat 

1. Navigate to  Teams or Chat 
2. Click on the + in the top bar
3. Choose Templafy from the list or use the search to find the app
4. Enter the Templafy Tenant ID
   The Templafy Tenant ID  can be found inside the tenant URL and corresponds to the part displayed before .templafy.com. For example, in mytenantid.templafy.com, the Templafy Tenant ID is mytenantid
5. Select the Default Path
   The Default Path is the template library that should be displayed when using the tab. It can be Documents, Presentations, or Spreadsheets library
6. Click Save

 

These steps can be repeated as many times as needed to create the desired tabs in the different Teams channels or chat. The Templafy tab that you add to a channel or chat will be available for use by all members of that channel or chat.

 

Option 3: Templafy extension

Once you have set up at least one Templafy tab inside a Teams channel or a chat, you will be able to create documents from all Teams channels and chats with the Templafy extension accessible under the chat box.

1. Navigate to  Teams or Chat 
2. Under the chat box, click on the + icon to expand more apps
3. Select Templafy to search for templates or create a document

 

How to edit or remove the Templafy app

How to rename the Templafy tab? 

1. Right-click on the Templafy tab that should be renamed
2. Click Rename
3. Rename the tab
4. Click Save

 

How to reconfigure the Templafy tab and extension? 

The Templafy tab cannot be reconfigured. In order to make changes to the Tenant ID or library, you must remove the tab, and add the desired settings to a new tab configuration.

 

The extension can be reconfigured at any time: 

1. In a Teams channel or in a chat, in the, under the chat box, click on the Templafy extension
2. In the Templafy extension that opens, click on the three dots menu
3. Click Reconfigure
4. Make the necessary edits
5. ClickSave

 

How to remove the Templafy tab? 

1. Right-click on the Templafy tab that should be removed
2. Click Remove

 

 

Troubleshooting

1. 1. The Saving file to Teams... is stuck. This could indicate an issue with the Microsoft Entra ID Enterprise Application permissions. To fix this, your Microsoft 365 administrator will need to grant consent to the the permissions requested by Templafy.
